Cowgirl Golfers in third place

OPELIKA, Ala. ? Oklahoma State?s Cowgirl golf team played 13 complete holes before play was suspended due to lightning here Wednesday evening during the second round of the NCAA Division I Women?s Golf Championships on the Grand National Lake Course. The second round will resume on Thursday morning prior to the start of the third round.

OSU?s last golfer Karin Sjodin, who was even par through 13 holes, had just teed off on hole No. 14 when the horns sounded. Freshmen Mallory Underwood and Candy Herrera were both one-over par, while junior Annie Thurman was three over. As a team, Oklahoma State was five over, good enough for third place.

UCLA and Duke, which both played during the morning round, carded a five-under and four-under, respectively, and sit in first and second place. Vanderbilt, which also finished during the morning wave, is six-over par after two rounds, and is in fourth place.

The second round will conclude beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday morning, and the third round will begin at approximately 8 a.m.
