Cowboys Add Second Commitment In Jefferson

Oklahoma State added their second commitment for the 2005 recruiting class with the verbal pledge of New Orleans St. Augustine defensive end Jarryl Jefferson. The 6-3, 205 pound Jefferson is light for the position, but is expected to add weight as he matures and once he gets into a college weightroom and training table. He has excellent speed with a 4.6 in the forty.

"Yes, I told Oklahoma State that I'm committed," said Jefferson, who added that he made the commitment over the phone to Oklahoma State's new defensive line coach Carey Bailey. "I've liked Oklahoma State for a long time, and after they offered, I was ready to make my decision."

Jefferson said he knew he would need to get bigger to play defensive end in the Big 12, but that he didn't think that would be a problem. He could also work out as a linebacker, but insists that he prefers defensive end "I want to play defensive end. That is where I play in high school and I feel like I'm better there. Right now Oklahoma State wants me to gain some weight and play there, but they could end up moving me. I want to play end, but I would play linebacker if it would help the team."

Jefferson did say that although he is firmly committed to Oklahoma State he reserves the right to take a visit or two later on, meaning this could become a shaky commitment at some point. Auburn, UCLA, Colorado, Mississippi State, and Miami have also been recruiting Jefferson.
