Josh Fields is Oklahoma State's first first round pick since outfielder Jeromy Burnitz was picked with the 17th pick by the New York Mets in the 1990 draft.
He is also the first third baseman that the White Sox have picked in the
first round since they chose former Oklahoma State standout Robin Ventura
with the 10th selection in the 1988 draft.
Fields led the Cowboys this season with a .362 average to go along with 21
doubles, 10 homers and 47 RBIs. His three year totals are: a .364 batting
average, 40 doubles, 25 homers and 131 RBIs in 163 games.
