Recruiting Update: Chris Hall

There are reports that Irving offensive tackle prospect Chris Hall has given a verbal commitment to Oklahoma State. We tried to confirm tonight, but will have to check back in the morning. Personally, I believe the reports to be true. Hall had committed on junior day at SMU to the Mustangs, but then a couple of weeks ago changed his mind and decommitted from SMU with a list of schools under consideration headed by OSU.

Oklahoma State never backed off on him as Les Miles accompanied recruiting coach for that area Larry Porter on a visit to Irving High in May to eyeball Hall. The Cowboys head coach also called Hall in May with the one allowed phone call and told him they weren't giving up.

It was a couple of years ago that SMU never gave up on an OSU commitment from Millwood H.S. in Cory Muse and Muse eventually switched his commitment to the Mustangs. I'm not saying this is payback, but the lose of Muse did not sit well with Miles and the OSU staff.

Chris Hall gives OSU another offensive tackle prospect to go along with Brady Bond out of Garber. Hall is 6-5, 280 pounds and moves very well. He was an All District player as a junior and was listed among the Texas Top 100 by several sources this summer heading into his senior season. Another interesting aspect to the switch is that Jim Bennett, the head coach for Hall at Irving is the older brother of SMU coach Phil Bennett.

When Hall decommitted earlier this month he said it had nothing to do with SMU.

I have nothing against SMU and it is not their fault," said Hall. "I'm just not comfortable with my decision and I need to look around and check some things out."

It was at that time that Hall said OSU was his leader amongst the schools he was considering.
