Cowboys Get 16th Commitment

This is a year where Oklahoma State will lose four seniors out of the secondary. In addition, there are five juniors on the depth chart. Brent Nickerson will help add to the future depth. The 6-0, 180-pounder who can play corner or safety gave Oklahoma State a commitment late last week.

"I just felt good about it," said the Irving Mac Arthur all-district performer from last season. "Oklahoma State is a good school and a good program. I'm impressed with the coaching staff, especially coach (Les) Miles. He's a good man and a good coach."

Nickerson has been recruited by a number of schools including Notre Dame, UCLA, Texas Tech and Kansas State. Besides Oklahoma State he had offers from Texas Tech, Mississippi State, Kansas State, Kansas, Tulsa and Washington State.

As a junior he had three interceptions, two fumble recoveries, eight passes broken up and a total of 44 tackles. He is listed on the top 200 list in Texas Football magazine.

Nickerson is the Cowboys 16th verbal commitment, and he is the fourth defensive back to commit to being in the 2005 recruiting class. Verbal commitments are nonbinding and nothing is official until signing day on Feb. 2, 2005.
