Bond caught a 7-yard touchdown pass and a two-point conversion pass as fourth-ranked Class B (eight-man) Garber defeated fifth-ranked Yale 20-12. Bond's third-quarter touchdown catch tied the game 6-6 and his ensuing two-point conversion catch put Garber up 8-6.

Broadway caught three passes for 83 yards, including a 47-yard touchdown pass from Jamar Champ, as the War Eagles defeated Ball 21-19. Braodway's touchdown catch on the final play of the first quarter gave Washington (2-0) a 7-0 lead.

Garland, ranked No. 9 in Class 5A, stunned No. 1-ranked Class 4A Ennis by rallying for a 20-19 victory in the fourth quarter. Garland trailed 19-10 with six minutes left before staging the comeback. Fodge kicked a 45-yard field goal with three minutes left to make it 19-13. Garland recovered an Ennis fumble just three plays later and scored the tying touchdown just seconds later. Nimitz only had 177 total yards and turned the ball over five times (four interceptions and a fumble).

Williams and his teammates on the defensive line did an outstanding job by limiting Highland (Kans.) to just 22 rushing yards (and only 110 total yards) as the 14th-ranked Blue Dragons improved to 3-0 with a 62-7 victory. Hutchinson plays next Saturday (Sept. 18) at No. 6 Coffeyville.
