Reid is Practicing, But Not Cleared for Contact

Highly rated and talented freshman quarterback Bobby Reid has joined the ranks of the practicing players. Reid took reps in throwing drills for the first time with the squad on Monday, and head coach Les Miles informed us that Reid is cleared to practice, but not cleared for any contact.

Miles wouldn't discuss any definite plans as far as any timetable in getting Reid ready, but expressed that he wants Reid to work hard and try to catch up on what was missed in the preseason. Donovan Woods is the starting quarterback and Al Pena and Jamie Beeghley are ready as backups. Pena was impressive in his first collegiate playing time in running the two-minute offense and directing a three-play, 24-second touchdown drive before halftime in the SMU win.

"Donovan is getting better everyday at running our offense," said Miles discussing Woods on his network radio show. "He has shown that he can do what we ask him to do with our checks and running the offense the way we ask him to. He is improving on a daily basis in the passing offense."

Miles added in our brief interview Tuesday afternoon that his intention is to always play the quarterback – and the players at any position – that gives Oklahoma State the best chance to succeed.
