What Does Donovan Think?

The most written about and discussed story during the off week and right on into this week as Oklahoma State prepares for its Big 12 opener with Iowa State has been the return to practice of talented freshman quarterback Bobby Reid. Reid and Donovan Woods battled during the spring for the starting quarterback job for this season.

In the final scrimmage Reid was injured on a hit from fellow freshman linebacker Roderick Johnson. Shoulder surgery and rehab took up Reid's time while Woods prepared for the season. Now Reid fans, he has many already, are excited about the possibility of Reid playing this season.

In the meantime, Donovan Woods has OSU off to a 3-0 start. You have to wonder what Woods makes of all the attention Reid's return is recieving.

"I just take care of the things that I can take care of and go from there," Woods said in a matter of fact fashion.

It's kind of obvious that Donovan learned some lessons from big brother Rashaun of how to ignore what goes on in the media. Woods is not ignoring that he has to be a team player. The quarterbacks, like the entire team, need to stay on the same page.

"You don't want controversy between players on the team," said Woods. "We have to be able to cooperate with each other and help each other. I don't have any problem with anybody on this team. It's competition, but right now I have to stay focused on my job."

Woods said the off week was productive and there could be some new twists in the offense to bring in the Big 12 season.

"We got a lot done, and hopefully we can put it on display on Saturday against Iowa State."
