"Last week we beat DuPont 19-6 and now we are 5-2," said James McKinney who says his team is looking good for the playoffs. "I'm playing pretty well, but it's hard because every offense is gearing to go away from me. I have to work hard to make plays from the backside."
McKinney's 4.9 speed should assist him in that pursuit. He said he is working hard on trying to improve in football and take care of his school work. He is a 3.0 student.
"I'm not thinking too much about recruiting right now," said McKinney. "The coaches keep calling and I'm hearing a lot from Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State, Louisville, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma."
He said his top eight right now is Michigan, Notre Dame, Louisville, Kentucky, Clemson, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Ohio State.
"Oklahoma State is right there and moving up," added McKinney when asked if Nebraska and Oklahoma were his only favored Big 12 schools. "I'm really impressed with Oklahoma State right now and I like Coach Bailey."
McKinney has not set any visits, but said he will start thinking about doing that soon.
