Recruiting: A Good Weekend

It appears, after visiting with several players and some parents, the weekend went well with nine players visiting Oklahoma State. The committed players that came in for visits (Matt Fodge, Andre Sexton, T.J. Bell, Tevin Williams and T.J. Minor) all held with their commitments. It does not appear that there were any new commitments.

R.J. Jackson is going to take his visits to LSU and Texas before he makes a decision. But a couple of the prospects I spoke with said they thought Jackson was having a good time and appeared to enjoy his visit. The running back/athlete out of Houston Westside is a major target for the Cowboys.

Of the two linemen that were in Stillwater, Ryan McBean may be the best shot to land with the Cowboys. The Hinds Community College defensive lineman was very enthusiastic about his visit. I would guess that it will come down to OSU and Arkansas. McBean has grown since the summer as he is now at about 280 pounds.

Jon Cooper is still heavy into his recruiting with two visits to go. We'll know more on him after we talk with him Monday night.

Two prospects who we thought were coming in, did not. They are Houston Westside quarterback Marcus Jackson, who probably is a low D-1 prospect, and Ricky Price of Cypress Falls, who is committed to Missouri. He is likely sticking with the Tigers and visits there next weekend.

With the bowl story the item of the day and making the press conference in Stillwater, we had little time to check on some of the other OSU prospects that might have visited elsewhere this weekend.

I did speak with Vince Oghabaase's mother. Oghabaase visited Duke this weekend and did not commit. His mom gave me a time to call Monday night.

The number of commitments holds at 17, with next week a possible bigger recruiting weekend than this past one.
