Recruiting: Reggie Smith

Edmond (Okla.) Santa Fe All-American safety Reggie Smith, like most high school students, was taking in a basketball game on Tuesday night. Last year at this time Smith was playing hoops for the Wolves, but this season he has decided to take time off after football.

He'll play in U.S. Army All-American Game in January and then focus on track along with the recruiting process. Being at the basketball game Tuesday night kept him away from the recruiting. We promised to only talk to him a minute.

"I am trying to figure out what I want to do," said Smith between cheers. "I know I want to take my visits and check out all the different aspects of the schools. I am trying to decide what factors I am dealing with so I can make a good decision after I take those visits."

Smith went to Nebraska last weekend, and said the visit went well. He liked the campus and the facilities. He also visited USC in October and said he really liked Trojan coach Pete Carroll. He is going to visit Oklahoma this coming weekend.

"I am still looking at OU, OSU, Texas A&M, Nebraska, USC and Penn State," said Smith, leaving out Notre Dame which had been in the mix until the recent firing of head coach Tyrone Willingham. "I don't have a leader at this point, but I have already come up with some opinions on some of the schools that will help me make a decision."
