Recruiting: David Nelson

Sunday night seemed to be a night where we spoke with more parents than young men, and that was the case with All-American wide receiver David Nelson, who his father informed us was already asleep. This weekend the Nelsons journeyed up I-44 to I-35 and on up to Stillwater to visit Oklahoma State.

"It was a great visit," said Roy Nelson, father of the 6-6, 200-pound wide receiver out of Wichita Falls (Texas) Rider High School. "It was a fun time and really informative. There was great interaction with the coaching staff. They are really big on parents going on the visit. It really seems like one big family."

Mr. Nelson said that his son still has an active itinerary in and around the Jan. 15 U.S. Army All-American Game that he will participate in at San Antonio's Alamodome. Nelson is scheduled to visit Iowa next weekend and then has trips scheduled to Florida, Nebraska and Kansas State.

Nelson had been committed to Notre Dame since the summer, but changed his mind after the recent firing of head coach Tyrone Willingham.
