Recruiting: Ben Owens

This report was filed on the Scout Network by Dudley Dawson of Hawgs Illustrated (Arkansas website). Ben Owens is a prospect that Oklahoma State is very interested in. The linebacker out of Bearden, Ark. (near Fort Smith) was an unofficial visitor to the OSU win over Baylor and came away impressed. He was a two-way player at Bearden who also played running back.

While starring on the basketball court, Bearden standout Ben Owens has also got his football visit gameplan in order.

Owens, a 6-2, 210-pound linebacker who had 129 tackles this past season and also rushed for over 1,200 yards, has the University of Arkansas as one of the four or five teams he will visit officially beginning in January.

He'll visit Arkansas State on Jan. 7-9, Vanderbilt Jan. 14-16, Arkansas Jan. 21-23 and Oklahoma State on Jan. 28-30. A possible fifth visit could be a mid-week one to Louisiana-Monroe in between Arkansas and Oklahoma State.

"That's how things have worked themselves out," Owens said. "It's been hard to get them worked out around basketball, but I think everything is all worked out now and I'm excited to make the visits."
