Cherry, a 6-foot, 185-pound speedster out of Boca Raton (Spanish River H.S.), Fla., is a Prentiss Elliott-type player who can play running back, wide receiver or defensive back. He was a top-30 recruit out of Florida a year ago but did not sign because he did not qualify academically.
Cherry visited Oklahoma State the weekend of Dec. 10-12. He has been recruited the past few years by OSU defensive line coach Carey Bailey. Bailey kept in touch with Cherry, who graduated from Spanish River High School last spring. The OSU assistant coach encouraged him to attempt to qualify again and when he did the Cowboys made the offer.
Cherry becomes the Cowboys' 19th commitment.
