New Name Surfaces in Coaching Staff Search

Here's a name to remember – Everett Withers of the Tennessee Titans coaching staff. Withers is the defensive backs coach for the Titans. But, according to a reliable source, Withers has shown interest in talking to OSU head coach Mike Gundy about a position at OSU, likely with an eye on defensive coordinator.

Previously the two names mentioned most for the defensive coordinator job with the Cowboys has been Cleveland Browns linebacker coach George Edwards and Dallas Cowboys linebacker coach Gary Gibbs.

Edwards is also being pursued by former OSU head coach Les Miles at LSU. Miles and Edwards coached together in Dallas with the Cowboys. Edwards also coached with current OSU associate head coach Joe DeForest at Duke.

Withers has been with the Titans for the past three seasons. Prior to that he was the defensive backs coach at Texas for three seasons working under Mack Brown. From 1995-97 he was the defensive coordinator for the University of Lousiville. He has also coached for the New Orleans Saints, Southern Miss, Tulane and his alma mater, Austin Peay.
