Recruiting: Andre Sexton

Andre Sexton had all but given up on the chance that he and Houston (Texas) Cypress Falls High School teammate Ricky Price would be playing football in college together. Sexton, who committed to Oklahoma State last summer, and Price had hoped to sign with the same college on Feb. 2. But it appeared that was not going to happen -- at least until this weekend.

"We had talked about playing together in college and had talked to our high school coach a long time ago about it," said the 6-foot-1, 190-pound defensive back. "At first we were planning to go to Missouri together, but then we found out they were going to offer him but they weren't going to offer me."

Thus, Sexton committed to OSU and Price gave his verbal to Missouri. But that changed this weekend when Price made his official visit to Oklahoma State and changed his mind.

"I talked to him yesterday when he was in Stillwater and I asked him how he liked it," Sexton said. "He said he liked it a lot -- way better than Missouri. Then he called me back a little while later and said that he had committed to Oklahoma State.

"I had pushed the coaches to offer him. And having him commit there sure makes me feel a lot better about being committed there."

Sexton began hearing from numerous coaching staffs in recent weeks following the OSU coaching change. He said Cowboy fans have no need to worry.

"After this nothing could change my mind," said Sexton, who will have an in-home visit with Gundy on Tuesday night. "I talked to coach (Joe) DeForest last night and he said, ‘I guess we found you a roommate.'

"We were great teammates at Cy Falls and now we're coming to OSU and we're going to help bright the program to the top."
