Taylor allowed three runs, two earned on eight hits in 8.1 innings to improve to 6-5 on the year. He struck out seven and did not walk anybody in the longest outing of his career.
The Cowboys jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first courtesy of a solo homer by Corey Brown, his 13th of the year, and a RBI single by Ty Wright.
Baylor put together a five-run third inning capped off by a three-run double by first baseman Jeff Mandel. The Bears scored the first run on a bases loaded walk that knocked starter Blake Kronkosky out of the game. Catcher Zack Dillon hit a sacrifice fly and the Bears took advantage of a Cowboy fielding error to load the bases and set up Mandel's drive to left.
Kronkosky (2-4) allowed four runs on four hits in two innings of work with two walks and no strikeouts in the losing effort.
Baylor put the game away with a three-run ninth inning. Kevin Russo and Jeff Mandel had RBI doubles to account for two of the runs. Mandel finished 4-for-5 with four RBIs in the win.
Ty Wright had four hits to lead the Cowboys, while Mike Hernandez chipped in with two hits in the loss.
