Recruiting: Atchison Gets Cowboy Offer

Copperas Cove is off to a great start at 3-0 and ranked 10th in Class 5A in Texas. One of the major reasons is Tim Atchison, a free safety and cornerback prospect. The 6-2, 186-pound Atchison runs a 4.52 in the 40 and is leading Copperas Cove in tackles with mre than 10 tackles a game. Atchison also has two interceptions matching his total as a junior. One of those interceptions this season he returned for a touchdown in a win over Waco University and highly regarded defensive back Perrish Cox.

Atchison has offers from Georgia Tech, Purdue, UTEP, Louisiana-Lafayette, New Mexico State and Tulsa, but he said he is really excited about the scholarship offer he received this week from Oklahoma State.

"I am definitely interested in Oklahoma State," Atchison said. "They have a winning program, good academics, and looking at their facilities they look like they are among the best."

Atchison said he has not had a chance to attend any games, but may try to go see Texas A&M next weekend. He said he is also hearing from Texas Tech. Somewhat under the radar of major recruiting outlets early, he is becoming a very popular player.

"I'm looking for a good football program where I can play soon and be close to home," Atchison added. "I'm trying to wait until the end of the season and take some visits before I make a decision."

Atchison, who had 88 tackles as a junior, will be back in action with his Copperas Cove teammates next week against Parker Heights when they try to go 4-0.
