Prospects Watch OSU Defeat Arkansas State

We counted 21 prospects at the game and several of those were on official visits. As expected, Wes Oglesby of Arlington Grace Prep was in attendance to watch the Cowboys defeat the Indians. Oglesby is 6-6, 230 pounds with 4.7 speed in the 40-yard dash and is considered one of the top defensive end prospects in Texas. He is also looking at Georgia Tech, Dukes, Texas Tech and Arizona. Oglesby said he would like to make a commitment before the end of the season. OSU was his first official visit.

The Lufkin pair of E.J. Shankle (5-11, 180, 4.4) and Leonard Hewitt (5-10, 170, 4.5) were in for official visits. Shankle caught 45 passes for 750 yards and 11 touchdowns last season as an all-district wide receiver. Hewitt, a first team All-Super Team pick in Texas Football, had 11 interceptions as a junior including four in one half of one game. Adrian Reese of Longview is a 6-6, 210-pound tight end with 4.7 speed and Terrell Reese is a huge jumbo athlete out of Hendrickson, Texas.

Others on hard included Putnam City North offensive lineman Myron McKinney, who has been to OSU twice for games despite giving Arkansas a verbal commitment. His teammate Stephen Hoge was on an official visit. Enid three-sport athlete Austin Box was there as was Alice, Texas, offensive lineman Trent Perkins. Perkins, who committed to OSU this summer, said his team is off to a 3-0 start.

Although he was not in the stadium Saturday night it is rumored that Georgia linebacker Eric Norwood has committed to Oklahoma State. The 6-1, 240-pound Norwood has 4.7 speed. He had 77 tackles, sseven sacks, and three fumbles recovered last season. Norwood is out of Acworth, Ga., and North Cobb High School. We will follow up on Norwood, who had close to 20 offers including Auburn, Boston College, Arkansas and North Carolina.
