"I think it was last Thursday that coach Wilson (OL coach) from OU called and extended the offer and all that goes with it," said Beeler. "It was great to receive that because it was an offer that I was really wanting and waiting on."
That said you would think the 6-4, 275-pound Beeler would be close to going ahead and committing to Oklahoma. However, he says that is not the case.
"No, I'm going to wait until I've done what I need to in recruiting and I'm still following my timetable," said Beeler. "I don't want to change the dynamics of my recruiting. I will probably take an official visit there, but I'm still looking at making my decision after the high school season is finished. I have to look at the caliber of the schools and what their needs are and where I would be most successful. OU, OSU, Colorado, Stanford, Northwestern and North Carolina are just a few examples of schools that I'm talking to and examining."
Beeler said along with those schools he is still considering most of the Big 12 schools, other than Texas. He said he is still wide open, and is not in a rush. He is not a midterm graduate and still has his sights set on throwing the shot in track with the goal of a state championship in that sport.
Jenks is off to a good start – and is unbeaten in district – with just one loss on the season, 44-0 at the hands of Arkansas' top-ranked squad Springdale.
"The consensus of our coaches is that they had the best high school offense they had ever seen," Beeler said of the interstate matchup. "I thought we could have been much more competitive, but we had some silly penalties, holding and offsides, that took back potential big plays. I'm not making excuses or trying to take anything away from them because they are a good team."
Beeler is a good player, and many schools are happy he didn't jump at the OU offer and is going to wait out the recruiting process.
