Cowboys Open With 'An Evening With Eddie'

OSU fans grew accustomed to watching Joey Graham, Ivan McFarlin and John Lucas when they entered Gallagher-Iba Arena during the winter. Those Cowboys are now playing in Toronto, France and Minnesota, and a new posse of Cowboys are now calling GIA their home. OSU fans will get a chance to meet the 2005-06 Cowboys, including eight newcomers, at "An Evening With Eddie" on Friday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena. The event begins at 7 p.m., and the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Cowboy fans will get their first opportunity to see the newcomers in action as they will participate in an intrasquad scrimmage. Also, several players will participate in both a slam-dunk contest and three-point shooting contest.

Returning players for the Cowboys include senior Aaron Pettway, junior David Monds, and sophomores JamesOn Curry and Marcus Dove. The newcomers are junior college transfers Mario Boggan, Jamaal Brown and Torre Johnson, and true freshmen Keith Brumbaugh, Kenny Cooper, Byron Eaton, Roderick Flemings and Terrel Harris.

"This year is probably more exciting from the standpoint that we have so many new players. It'll be interesting to see how they're going to react to things, and how well they're going to pick up our system," said head coach designate Sean Sutton. "From a talent standpoint they're going to be fun to watch."

Similar to the Basketball Bash that OSU has held in the past, members of the men's basketball team, women's basketball team and Cowboy wrestling squad will be introduced at "An Evening With Eddie."

Sutton's basketball team is coming off back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances and won 57 games the past two seasons. The OSU wrestling team has won three consecutive NCAA championships and will be attempting to win a school-record four in a row this season. The Cowgirl basketball team is led by first-year coach Kurt Budke, formerly of NCAA powerhouse Louisiana Tech.
