How The Future Cowboys Fared - Week 9

Throughout the high school football season we'll be following the 14 players who have verbally committed to sign with Oklahoma State next February. Here are the results from this week.

JEFF BEREUTER, LB (6-3, 206)
& JUSTIN GENT, LB (6-2, 210)

Irving MacArthur (Irving, Texas)
Gent came up with one of the game's biggest play for the second week in a row as Irving MacArthur defeated South Grand Prairie 3-0 on Thursday night to clinch the school's fourth conesecutive playoff berth. Gent blocked a 20-yard field goal attempt by South Grand Prairie to give MacArthur its seventh win in a row this season by seven points or less and extended its regular-season winning streak to 21 games. DeMARCUS CONNER, WR (6-2, 185)
Westfield High (Houston, Texas)
Conner caught a 30-yard touchdown pass – his third touchdown reception of the season – as Westfield rolled to an easy 49-0 victory over Baytown Sterling on Friday night. The game was originally scheduled to be played Sept. 30 but was rescheduled because of Hurricane Rita. Conner's TD reception came early in the first quarter to give Westfield a 14-0 lead. Westfield, now 6-0, is ranked sixth in USA Today's Super 25 rankings. Next: Friday, Oct. 28, at Beaumont West Brook.

DERON FONTENOT, S (5-8, 185)
South Grand Prairie (Grand Prairie, Texas)
South Grand Prairie, ranked No. 7 in The Dallas Morning News' Class 5A area rankings, suffered its first loss of the season to Irving MacArthur (and Cowboy commits Jeff Bereuter and Justin Gent) by the score of 3-0 on Thursday night. South Grand Prairie, 7-1, had two field goals blocked and missed another in the fourth quarter. Next: Friday, Oct. 28, at Euless Trinity.

Klein Collins (Klein, Texas)
Goodson rushed for 151 yards on 16 carries in a 22-20 loss to Klein High School on Saturday night. Goodson also had 64 yards in Klein Collins 20-10 loss to The Woodlands last Monday night. Next: Friday, Oct. 28, at Huntsville.

Carter High (Dallas, Texas)
Hamilton and his Carter teammates improved their record to 8-0 by holding Sunset to minus 14 yards of offense in Saturday's 74-0 victory. Next: Friday, Oct. 28, at W.T. White.

SHANE JARKA, DE (6-3, 230)
Fort Bend Austin (Fort Bend, Texas)
Fort Bend Austin scored a touchdown with 4:01 remaining as the Bulldogs rallied for a 20-16 victory over Willowridge on Saturday. Next: Saturday, Oct. 29, at Bush.

Jersey Village (Houston, Texas)
Jersey Village defeated Magnolia 24-6 on Thursday night for its second consecutive victory, and third of the season. Next: Saturday, Oct. 29, at Cy-Fair.

ERIC NORWOOD, DE (6-2, 251)
North Cobb High (Acworth, Ga.)
North Cobb was defeated 13-7 by Mceachern on Friday night. Next: Friday, Oct. 28, vs. Kennesaw Mountain.

TRENT PERKINS, OL (6-4, 285)
Alice High (Alice, Texas)
Perkins and his offenive line teammates did the job Friday night as Alice rolled up 303 rushing yards (on just 42 attempts) en route to a 55-0 victory over Robstown. The Coyotes, now 6-2, also returned three interceptions for touchdowns. Next: Friday, Oct. 28, at Gregory-Portland.

JACOB SECREST, OL (6-4, 280)
Stillwater High (Stillwater, Okla.)
Secrest and his Pioneer teammates thought they had this one in the victory column with a 20-0 halftime lead, but it wasn't to be as Ponca City scored 22 unanswered points in the second half and Stillwater missed a 27-yard field goal with 33 seconds remaining in a 22-20 loss on Thursday night. Stillwater is now 5-3 overall and 3-2 in district play. Next: Friday, Oct. 28, at Edmond North.

North Mesquite (Mesquite, Texas)
Thompson rushed for 199 yards and two touchdowns, including a 55-yard scoring run on the first play from scrimmage, but it wasn't enough as North Mesquite lost to Rockwall 28-19. Thompson also had a 48-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to pull North Mesquite within 21-19, but the two-point conversion failed. Thompson got his 199 yards on 22 carries. Madison High (Houston, Texas)
Madison, now 7-1, jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead and never looked back en route to a 52-8 victory over Milby on Friday night. The Marlins scored on their first seven drives while the defense was once again dominating. Next: Saturday, Oct. 29, vs. Bellaire.

Bryan High (Byran, Texas)
Bryan kept its playoff hopes alive with a 28-21 victory over Waco High on Friday night. Bryan, now 4-4 overall and 3-2 in district play, survived thanks to a fourth-down stop in the last few minutes. Next: Thursday, Oct. 27, at Killeen Shoemaker.
