How The Future Cowboys Fared (Nov. 11-12)

Throughout the high school football season we've followed the 14 players who have verbally committed to sign with Oklahoma State next February. Seven of those players' teams advanced to their respective state's high school playoffs which began this weekend. Here are the results from this weekend.

JEFF BEREUTER, LB (6-3, 206)
& JUSTIN GENT, LB (6-2, 210)

Irving MacArthur (Irving, Texas)
Gent's interception and return to the 7-yard line in the first half Saturday was one of the few bright spots for Irving MacArthur in a Class 5A Region I bi-district playoff game against Southlake Carroll, the No. 1 team in the nation. Southlake Carroll won 48-21 to eliminate Irving MacArthur in the first round of the playoffs for the third time in the last four seasons.

DeMARCUS CONNER, WR (6-2, 185)
Westfield High (Houston, Texas)
Westfield, 9-0, used a dominating run game – 369 yards on just 48 carries – to defeat Lamar 36-12 in a Class 5A Division I bi-district playoff game Friday night. Westfield's defense was outstanding, limiting Lamar to 191 yards while recording six sacks and two interceptions. Next: Galena Park North Shore (11-0), TBA, in Class 5A Division I area playoffs.

DERON FONTENOT, S (5-8, 185)
South Grand Prairie (Grand Prairie, Texas)
South Grand Prairie scored twice in overtime – the second TD on an 80-yard interception return – to defeat Denton Ryan 48-35 in a Class 5A Division II Region I bi-district game Saturday afternoon at Texas Stadium. South Grand Prairie, 10-1 and ranked fifth in the Dallas Morning News' 5A area rankings, fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter and trailed 21-7 at halftime before rallying in the second half. Next: vs. Plano (11-0), 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, in the Class 5A Division II area playoffs at Texas Stadium.

ADRIAN HAMILTON, LB (6-2, 220)
Carter High (Dallas, Texas)
Hamilton and his Carter Cowboy teammates were dominant in their Class 5A Division II bi-district playoff victory over Carrollton Creekview, 37-7, on Friday night in Mesquite. The Cowboys, now 11-0, only allowed Creekview five first downs and 82 total yards – and 50 of those came on a second quarter touchdown run – on the night. Next: vs. Garland (8-3), 6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 18, in Class 5A Division II area playoffs at Texas Stadium.

JACOB SECREST, OL (6-4, 280)
Stillwater High (Stillwater, Okla.)
Stillwater saw its season come to an end with a 17-3 loss Friday night to Broken Arrow in a first-round game of the Class 6A playoffs.

DONNELL WILLIAMS, LB (6-3, 220) Madison High (Houston, Texas) Madison lost to Beaumont West Brook 28-19 on Saturday in a Class 5A Division II bi-district playoff game. The Marlins finish the season 9-2.
