Recruiting: Secrest To Enroll At Midterm

On the heels of the commitment of Cottonwood (Salt Lake City) High quarterback Alex Cate, who will be a midterm graduate, we've learned that another high school commitment will be heading to the OSU campus early in January, and he won't have to go far. Stillwater offensive lineman Jacob Secrest is going to graduate at midterm and enroll at OSU and participate in the offseason program and spring football.

"My guidance counselor said it will be a neat deal because I can start college and football early and still be able to come back for prom and walk through graduation with my class," said Secrest.

The 6-5, 295-pound Secrest finished his high school career last week as Stillwater lost in the first round of the 6A playoffs to Broken Arrow. Secrest, who was hampered some by injuries throughout his senior season, had a strong game on offense and contributed a sack on defense.

He said he is excited to get underway at Oklahoma State and added that he will move into the dorm to be with his new teammates, while not having to go far to hang with his Pioneer teammates from the past four years.

"It will be a lot of fun," added the hometown commitment.

Secrest still has not taken his official recruiting visit to OSU, but said he will take it in December and assist on a recruiting weekend probably on the first weekend in December.
