Recruiting: Boatman Is A Top JUCO Lineman

Tyler (Texas) Junior College offensive lineman Shannon Boatman is at the top of a lot of lists, and as a result he has a busy travel schedule coming up starting this weekend at TCU with an official visit. Boatman will follow that up with visits to Oklahoma State (12-2), Iowa State (12-9), and Nebraska (12-16). He is an early junior college grad and can sign on the junior college signing day on Dec. 18.

"Yes, I'm coming out early," said Boatman, who said he is also hearing from and considering squeezing in a visit to either South Carolina or Florida State. "I'm really liking Florida State right now, and Texas A&M wants me to drive down for a week day visit. I just want to go where I have a chance to start right away and play both my years. I know that sounds like it is all about me, but I want to play."

Boatman is a 6-7, 313-pounder who is a sure bet to be all-conference in the Southwest J.C. Conference and is up for J.C. All-America honors.

"I thought I really played pretty good and stepped my game up this season," said Boatman. "I thought I really improved on my pass blocking. It doesn't matter what offense I play in, but I prefer a pro-style offense where I have the opportunity to both pass block and run block."

Boatman said he is going into the visits with an open mind and he will look to continue as a business major at whatever four-year school he decides to attend.
