Recruiting: Did Auburn Visit Change Norwood?

Eric Norwood, the 6-foot-2, 250-pound defensive end/linebacker prospect from Georgia who has committed to Oklahoma State, has become a hot commodity throughout the south. Is he still a Cowboy commit? Is he wavering after unofficial visits to South Carolina and Auburn? Norwood spoke with on Monday night.

"I'm still committed to Oklahoma State, but I'm also considering Auburn," the Acworth (Ga.) North Cobb High standout said after attending the Auburn-Alabama game on an unofficial visit this past weekend.

Norwood committed to Oklahoma State along with best friend Al'Darius Thompson of North Mesquite (Texas) High School several months ago. But now it sounds as if Norwood is having doubts. One minute he's saying, "Nothing has changed. I'm still committed to Oklahoma State." But a few minutes later he says, "It's now between Oklahoma State and Auburn."

Norwood was one of about 150 recruits – only a handful who were on official visits – to watch Auburn's 28-18 victory over Alabama at Jordan-Hare Stadium. "It was crazy," he said. "Like every where else I've been, the crowd was really crazy. Oklahoma State's crowd was crazy, South Carolina's was crazy, but Auburn was the best crowd that I've ever seen."

Norwood said that he doesn't think South Carolina is interested any longer because he hasn't heard from anyone associated with the program since he made an unofficial visit to watch the Gamecocks upset Florida 30-22 on Nov. 12. However, he said that he has been hearing from Clemson now and that the Tiger coaches want him to schedule an official visit, although he said that is doubtful.

"I've been to all the schools I want to see. Now I just need to fully evaluate which one is best for me," said Norwood, who did say he would probably still take an official visit to Auburn in early January. "It's not really playing time or whether I get redshirted (that's going to impact my decision). It's really going to come down to where I feel comfortable. I like both schools a lot."
