Recruiting: Hamilton Deciding On Visits?

OSU commitment Adrian Hamilton, the standout linebacker from Carter High School in Dallas, is still trying to decide when he's going to take his official visit to the Oklahoma State campus. But, like several other Cowboy commitments in recent weeks, Hamilton also said he's trying to decide if he's going to take some other visit before the Feb. 1 signing date. Hamilton visited with on Thursday evening about his verbal commitment and how strong it is to the Cowboys.

Hamilton had hoped his Carter Cowboys would still be playing this weekend but the Cowboys were defeated in the second round of the playoffs by Garland, 12-7, after winning their first 11 games (10 in the regular season and a first-round playoff game). Hamilton's phone has been ringing off the hook in recent weeks now that his high school playing career is completed.

"I've been hearing from Iowa, (Texas) A&M, Arkansas, Oklahoma ... I think I'm going to take a few visits," said Hamilton, who this past season had 65 tackles, 12 tackles for losses, 9 quarterback sacks, 8 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries and three touchdowns (two on fumble returns and one on a touchdown pass while playing tight end).

"Oklahoma State is still my number one team," he said. "I don't want to get to Oklahoma State and hear from other players about their recruiting trips and how much fun they had and what they got to do. One of these days I want to be able to tell my kids about the experience I had. It's just for the experience."

Hamilton says he does not have any visits set, although he hopes to set up trips to Arkansas and Oklahoma in December. He mentioned that he plans to visit Oklahoma State in January.

"I'm still talking to the Oklahoma State coaches. At first they were a little upset when I told them I wanted to take some other visits but when I told them why they seemed to understand," he said. "The whole plan is for me to come in (as a freshman) and contribute a little bit right away. I don't think they expect anyone to come in right away at linebacker and do it all because they want to rotate the linebackers in and out. They really didn't have the depth to do that this year. You could tell that in the Texas game (which Hamilton watched from the sideline on an unofficial visit), because they got wore down in the second half."
