Recruiting: Boatman Likes OSU

Tyler (Texas) Junior College All-American offensive lineman Shannon Boatman spoke to us as he was boarding the plane to come back from his latest visit. This week the 6-7, 310-pounder visited Florida State midweek and then moved on to Oklahoma State for a visit over the weekend.

"The visit to Oklahoma State went pretty good," said Boatman, who appears to be at the top of the "Most Wanted" list of junior college offensive linemen. "It's a friendly college town. I was real impressed with how close the team is. They are just like a family. My host was Corey Hilliard and he is a good guy. They call him boot.

"Florida State was pretty good too," Boatman continued of his past week's intinerary. "I enjoyed myself out there and felt like I really got to know the coaches and the players well."

Instead of shrinking, Boatman's list seems to be expanding. He said he still has his visit scheduled next weekend to Iowa State with visits to Texas A&M and Nebraska the following week. He also mentioned South Carolina as a possibility but that he didn't have a visit set up there. He also said that recently Texas Tech has come into the mix.

"Both the schools I just visited - Oklahoma State and Florida State - are in there, but I am still taking my visits," Boatman said right before he had to hang up.

Boatman is a midterm graduate at Tyler J.C. and is eligible to sign on the junior college signing date on Dec. 19, so he has a long way to go but just a short time to arrive at a decision.
