Recruiting: Atchison Will Visit Stillwater

Oklahoma State is looking for size and play-making ability in the secondary and Copperas Cove, Texas defensive back Tim Atchison has shown throughout the Texas high school playoffs that he can deliver. Copperas Cove was eliminated last Friday by Lufkin in the Class 5A Division II bracket in a game in Waco.

"I'm over it now," said the 6-2, 190-pounder with 4.5 speed. "It was a great season, but now it is time to move on."

For Atchison that means recruiting. As we spoke to him he said he was waiting on a coach from New Mexico State to drop by his home.

"I've already talked with Coach (Doug) Meacham from Oklahoma State today and I am going to visit Oklahoma State this weekend.," he said. "I also have set up a visit to Texas Tech the next weekend. Houston has been by this week and Georgia Tech is coming by tomorrow."

Atchison, who is a definite for postseason honors, possibly All-State with his high tackle numbers, said he has also decided to visit Georgia Tech, but is undecided about any visits beyond that. He would have two more, but said he would play it by ear after making the three visits he has planned.

"I am looking for a school where I can get a good degree and play football," Atchsion said simply of what he is searching for in a school. "I'd like to find a school where I can do that and it is not that far from home."

Oklahoma State has been recruiting Atchison the longest, but interest on him has certainly picked up and will probably continue to do so. He is a sincere and serious young man who can really play. He's proved that.
