Recruiting: Evans Going To Georgia Tech

The successful recruiting week and weekend for Oklahoma State has led Irving, Texas running back Jamaal Evans to make a verbal commitment to Georgia Tech. Evans had cancelled all of his visits, including one scheduled for this weekend to Iowa State, and was set to make a decision between Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech.

"I committed to Georgia Tech today," said Evans. "I really like it up there. It's a nice place."

Evans followed that up with saying that the Yellow Jackets became his only option after a phone call from Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy.

"Coach Gundy called me and told me that they had received a commitment from another running back this weekend (Keith Toston) to go with the two they had (Michael Goodson and Preston Brown). He told me he was sorry but that meant they had no more scholarship or room. He was cool about it and said he felt that they had given everybody a fair chance."

That is a rare look into recruiting because schools are looking for certain positions and scholarship offers don't stay open forever. Sometimes the first guys that make a decision gets rewarded.

Evans seems to be okay and is pleased with his option of Georgia Tech.

"I'm done. No more visits. It's Georgia Tech," finished Evans.
