Recruiting: Mon Williams Gives Trip Thumbs Up

Mesquite (Texas) Horn High School all-purpose athlete Mon Williams was a load for opponents in high school. He had roughly 1,850 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns with two of the touchdowns coming on kickoff returns, of which he was one of the best in the Texas schoolboy ranks. He returned one for 102 yards and the other covered 85 yards.

"I returned punts too, but they started just kicking the ball out of bounds," said Williams.

Williams made his second official visit in recruiting this weekend to Oklahoma State, and said it was a positive experience.

"I can see myself playing there for sure," said Williams. "It was a lot of fun meeting all the players and getting to know guys that could be my teammates. Running back Mike Hamilton (2005 Big 12 Freshman of the Year) was the player that showed me around. The facilities and the food were great. They had a Play Station up in the room where we ate and that was tight. We had a chance to view the suites in the stadium and they are remodeling and building even more. It will be pretty tight when they finish all that."

Williams said he had a chance to look into the academics and said he was looking at criminal justice.

"I really like Oklahoma State and Coach (Todd) Bradford is coming back to see me this week. I'm going to take my visits to Texas A&M next weekend and then on Jan. 20 to Florida," said Williams.

Mon has already visited Colorado, but said he has lost interest in the Buffs.

"Yes, since they fired their coach this week."

Williams will be a prospect worth watching the rest of the way.
