Recruiting: Cox Says Yes To LSU

Cornerback Perrish Cox of Waco (Texas) University said this afternoon that the news was true, he has given a verbal commitment to LSU. Cox said he had just done it late Wednesday, but a source close to Go Pokes and LSU head coach Les Miles told us that the former OSU coach was saying that Cox had committed over the weekend. Either way it doesn't matter because Cox revealed he was leaning toward LSU all along.

"LSU was my leader throughout recruiting," said the speedy athlete and Texas All-State selection. "That was really the deciding factor. I compared every school with LSU and OSU measured up best, but at LSU I have an opportunity to play right away at a school that has a good chance to win championships."

Cox said he really liked his visit to Stillwater and enjoyed meeting Mike Gundy, Vance Bedford and Doug Meacham.

"The coaches are young and they will do well," added Cox. "I'm glad I can relax now. My mom told me she wanted me to do it (announce) before Christmas."

Oklahoma State will now zero in on two other corner prospects in Copperas Cove, Texas, All-State selection Tim Atchison and Georgia Military J.C. All-American Scott Broughton.
