Recruiting: Norwood Says Verbal Is Soft

Standout defensive end Eric Norwood from North Cobb, Ga., put on a show at the Georgia High School All-Star Game as he posted six tackles, four quarterback sacks, forced a fumble and also had a pass deflection in helping his North team defeat the South 20-10. The 6-1, 240-pounder also had a good Christmas, "I got a lot of clothes, shoes, and stuff like that," he said.

He also now says that South Carolina is a major threat to his verbal commitment to Oklahoma State that he made back in October.

"I would say my commitment to Oklahoma State is now a soft verbal," said Norwood. "I'm going to make a visit to South Carolina on Jan. 13 and if it's where I feel everything is the same as when I went to South Carolina the first time then I may commit to them. I just think I may feel comfortable at South Carolina. That is nothing against Oklahoma State because everybody is cool there and I feel comfortable there too."

Norwood originally committed to Oklahoma State after his father had made a trip to Stillwater to check out the campus, and then Norwood later made his official visit in October and actually witnessed the Cowboys near upset of second-ranked Texas. He also is childhood friends with Al'Darius Thompson, a fellow Cowboy commitment from North Mesquite, Texas. Thompson has always talked about how Norwood, despite talking about visiting South Carolina and Auburn, was going to be teammates with him at OSU.

"Al'Darius and I talk. We talked last week," said Norwood. "He tells me that too sometimes, but then there are times that we don't even talk about recruiting."
