Recruiting: Savage Gets Visit From Gundy

Mississippi Gulf Coast running back Dantrell Savage said he had a good Christmas, but missed Santa. "I think Santa flew by here and missed my house," kidded Savage. "He might show up on signing day." As of right now signing day would have the 5-11, 185-pound speedster signing a document with Oklahoma State.

"I'm still committed to Oklahoma State," said Savage. "I am going to take a couple of visits like I told you, but it's really just to check those schools out. I'm going to Troy on Jan. 13 and then Southern Miss on Jan. 27.

"Coach (Mike) Gundy and Coach Wick (Joe Wickline) were in to see me this week. They just wanted to see if I had any questions about the school. The visit was good and I'm very happy going to Oklahoma State. I'm just looking to get a chance to play quickly."

Savage brings an additional speed element to the position and also has excellent ability when it comes to catching passes out of the backfield and in the return area in special teams.

This past season Savage rushed for 1,413 yards and 17 touchdowns while averaging 138.7 yards a game on the ground. He also caught four touchdown passes.
