Recruiting: Cowboys Get Surprise Commitment

It was thought that when Oklahoma State gained the commitment from Russell Okung on Friday that the Cowboy had wrapped up the offensive line portion of their 2006 recruiting class. But if there was a surprise that OSU recruiting fans crave it came in the form of 6-3, 295-pound offensive lineman Michael Booker out of Paris, Texas.

The North Lamar High School product had been committed to TCU, but took a visit to Oklahoma State this weekend and was swayed.

"I really liked it there," said Booker. "I liked the players, the coaches, the facilities ... everything about it was good with me."

Booker also liked the opportunities that might lay ahead for him on the field.

"They showed me that I could come in and help on the offensive line right away," said the 295-pounder. "They lost several starters and will lose some more after this season, so there are good chances for someobdy that comes in and works hard to get playing time on the o-line."

Booker projects as a guard in the future although he played tackle in high school. He is tremendously strong in the upper body and has had solid experience pass blocking. It would be expected for TCU to come back and make a tug on this commitment, but Booker said he is finished with recruiting.

"I've made my choice," said Booker.
