Recruiting: Savage Won't Surprise Signing Day

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College running back Dantrell Savage is solidly committed to Oklahoma State and will sign with the Cowboys on Wednesday. Savage, who committed to the Cowboys back in December after an official visit to OSU, had been taking visits. He made an early January visit to Troy University and had visits scheduled to Harvard and another to Southern Miss this past weekend.

"I didn't go to Harvard or to Southern Miss this weekend," said Savage, a 5-11, 185-pound, 4.3 speedster originally out of Columbus, Ga. "I got sick of taking visits so I cancelled those last two. I am firmly committed to signing with Oklahoma State."

Savage, who rushed for 1,418 yards this past season and scored 17 touchdowns, is a very talented back out in space and matches up well with the Cowboys spread offense under coordinator Larry Fedora.

Savage also told us about a highlight play of his from high school at Jordan Vocational in Columbus that we will include in his feature in the upcoming recruiting issue. We'll give you a hint -- it involves avoiding six defenders and jumping over one of those defenders.
