Recruiting: Romine Just Getting Started

Tulsa (Okla.) Union offensive lineman Matt Romine is just getting started in the recruiting process, but the starting point for the 6-6, 275-pounder with 5.2 speed in the 40 is a very good one. "I'm just talking to the coaches and getting mail and all that," said Romine. "I already have three offers from Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and Houston."

Romine had an outstanding junior season, and after seeing him play three times this past season including a dominating performance against Mustang in the Class 6A state championship game won by Union it is clear to see that he has all the tools to be a college offensive tackle.

He is an athlete, has the long arms coaches crave for pass blocking. He moves very well on his feet and in the running game is not the kind of lineman that puts defensive players on the ground, but instead swallows them up in his frame, keeping them from having any chance to make a play until it is too late.

As for recruiting, Romine said he intends to go to an Oklahoma State spring practice or the spring game on April 15 and do the same for Oklahoma. He said he might also visit a couple of other schools. As for an early favorite?

"My family has always followed OU, so they might have a little edge," explained Romine, who is getting ready for regional basketball playoffs at Union starting on Friday. "I want to look around and find the best school for me. I'm not really sure what I am looking for and I haven't decied what I want to study, but I know I want to visit different schools to see what they have to offer."

No doubt with the three schools having already offered Romine will hear from many more schools and there will be more offers coming his way.
