Recruiting: Arkansas Standout High On OSU

D.J. Williams was one of the three unofficial visitors on the OSU campus Friday for the spring's first major scrimmage. Williams, offensive lineman Jason Hannon of Waxahachie, Texas, and cornerback Ryan Broyles of Norman, Okla., watched the Cowboys work on Friday and Williams came away with a very favorable impression.

"Stillwater was amazing - my best visit yet," said Williams, who has also been to Ole Miss and Mississippi State. "The hospitality, the facilities, the people, the campus ... everything about it was perfect."

Williams is a 6-3 1/2. 247 pound tight end/defensive end at Central Arkansas Christian in Little Rock, Ark. He is considered one of the top prospects in the state going into his senior season and was a Junior All-Stater in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette newspaper. He runs a 4.8 in the 40, and has a 295-pound bench press max and a squat max of 405. He also plays basketball at CAC.

So far he has offers from OSU, Mississippi State and Kansas State. He is being recruited by Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas. He has plans to take an unofficial visit to Arkansas on April 18, one to Kansas State on April 22, and will attend the Nike Combine at LSU. When I asked him about his time table in recruiting he said he's thinking seriously about that.

"Oklahoma State has offered and they told me they are signing one tight end and they are offering four and will take the first one," explained Williams. "That is some pressure because right now Oklahoma State is my top pick and I don't want to miss out. I'm pretty much sure on OSU, but I haven't made my mind up yet."

Williams is one to keep a close eye on because he could decide soon.
