Recruiting: Kirkendoll Visits Stillwater

Speedster James Kirkendoll of Round Rock, Texas, was one of several visitors to Stillwater on Sunday. The group of standout players also included Tulsa Union offensive lineman Matt Romine, Oklahoma City Heritage Hall defensive tackle Quentin Prince, and Bixby linebacker Jason Glover who were there to do a photo shoot for a national recruiting magazine.

Kirkendoll, who has been blowing away stopwatches in combines, said he liked what he saw of Oklahoma State as he also made it to campus and toured the facilities and spoke with head coach Mike Gundy. Kirkendoll was at Notre Dame for another camp on Saturday.

"Both schools are really nice," Kirkendoll said of OSU and Notre Dame. "I could see myself at both places. I'll be checking out a number of schools this spring and summer because I really want to pick somewhere and commit sometime before football season starts."

The 6-0, 170-pounder has some picking to do as he has offers from Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Kansas, Kansas State and Nebraska in the Big 12 alone. He also has offers from Miami, Florida, Clemson and Colorado State. He added that he has heard from LSU and Michigan.

Kirkendoll had 59 receptions for 648 yards and scored eight touchdowns last season. Six of those scores were on pass receptions, while the other two came on kickoff returns. He also had two interceptions on defense last season.

Round Rock started spring football last week. "It's going good, and there have already been a bunch of coaches come through," said Kirkendoll. "It kind of makes practice exciting every day."
