Recruiting: Irvin Is A Physical Dynamo

Corvey Irvin is the other defensive lineman out of Georgia Military who is receiving a lot of attention. The 6-4, 275-pounder plays defensive end, but is another player who could play inside or outside on the defensive line. His statistics from last season are modest with 18 total tackles and two sacks, but he runs a 4.7 in the 40-yard dash. Irvin is originally out of Augusta, Georgia, and Laney Comprehensive High School. He says he would like to stay somewhat close to home.

"I'd really like to play at an SEC or ACC school," said Irvin. "The Big 12 is attractive and I want to take my visits before I decide anything, but I am thinking SEC or ACC right now."

Irvin said his only offer so far is Baylor, but he has heard from a number of interested schools.

"Oklahoma State, Baylor, South Carolina, East Carolina, LSU, Kansas State, Southern Miss, Louisville, Auburn and Ole Miss are all talking to me or sent me letters," Irvin said.

Like his GMC teammate, Jarius Wynn, Irvin is a December graduate so he can be enrolled in a school in time for spring practice.

"I want to go somewhere that I can play right away," said Irvin.

He added that he will spend his summer at GMC taking classes and training and that he will take his five visits in the fall before making a decision on where he will transfer.
