Recruiting: Jones High On Cowboys

Linebacker/defensive end Richetti Jones ofDallas (Lincoln), Texas, was in Stillwater again for an unofficial visit on Saturday, June 10. The 6-3, 230-pound Jones is one of the most sought after defenders in the state of Texas and is on virtually every top 100 list of high school prospects in the country.

Jones, who is spending the summer working for his grandfather at his golf course and working out for the upcoming season, was also at the recent OSU satellite camp in Duncanville, Texas. Jones has offers from just about every major school in the country and has listed Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Nebraska and Baylor as his top schools in the Big 12.

"Yes, I was up there a week ago last Saturday," Jones said of his time in Stillwater. "I've been up there three or four times and I have a blast every time I'm there. It's a good school with young coaches, good players, and the facilities are nice."

Oklahoma State has an advantage in that when Jones visits he sees a very familiar face besides the coaches and players he knows in former Lincoln High teammate Byron Eaton. The current Cowboy point guard and former Lincoln quarterback and Jones are good friends.

Jones also stopped in Norman.

"I was there on the same weekend and it went good too," added Jones. "I'm in no hurry to separate schools and I am not going to rush my decision. I really think I will go down to the wire with my decision, but both the schools in Oklahoma are in really good shape."

Jones was an all-area player in The Dallas Morning News as a sophomore and was the Defensive Player of the Year in the area last season along with being an All State pleyer. Jones had 148 total tackles, 12 sacks, three fumbles caused, and three fumble recoveries last season for Lincoln.

I don't normally have recruits on my radio show, but Jones recently did another radio interview and he has a lot of maturity and savvy about him in reguards to recruiting, so he will appear on Sportstalk with Robert Allen and Friends on Tuesday, June 20, during the noon hour.
