Recruiting: Big Time RB Green Visits OSU

Not only was five-star defensive end/linebacker Richetti Jones of Dallas (Lincoln), Texas, back this past weekend for his fifth unofficial visit to Oklahoma State, but there was another top 100 national prospect in Stillwater checking out the campus. Standout running back Broderick Green of Little Rock (Pulaski Academy), Ark., was at OSU for an unofficial visit. The only one he has made lately.

"I haven't been anywhere lately except this past weekend to Oklahoma State," said Green. "I just got back from OSU and it was pretty good."

Green is easily the top prospect in Arkansas and one of the best running back prospects in the country. He is loaded with power and even with a 6-1, 230-pound frame is able to clock a 4.5 in the 40-yard dash.

Last season as a junior he gained 1,654 yards and scored 26 touchdowns. Five of those touchdowns came on pass receptions proving his versatility. Make no mistake he is a power runner made for the zone and iso plays where he can turn his body upfield and punish opposing defenders. He has a 305-pound bench press and a 450-pound squat.

He has well over 30 scholarship offers and the number may be closer to 50. He said he has not come close to narrowing the field, but he did give us a top six.

"I'd say Arkansas, Penn State, USC, Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Georgia Tech," answered Green, who said his plan is to take all five of his official visits and make his decision late in the recruiting process.

So what did he see at Oklahoma State? "Everything, I saw a lot of stuff that impressed me," explained Green. "I got to meet a lot of the coaches and players. I met the academic counselor. I saw the facilities. It was all good."

Yes, he did bump into Jones, a top 100 national prospect on the defensive side of the ball. "I met him," added Green. "He's a pretty good guy."

Oklahoma State fans would have to hope that pair strikes up a good friendship.
