Seguin Linebacker Picks Oklahoma State

Standout linebacker Marcus Richardson, a second-team Super Team selection in Dave Campbell's 2006 Texas Football magazine, verbally committed to Oklahoma State on Wednesday. The 6-0, 215-pound linebacker from Seguin, Texas, becomes the eighth player to give the Cowboys a verbal commitment.

"I got to spend some time with the coaching staff and really liked those guys," said Richardson, who recorded 145 tackles, 16 tackles for losses, and four quarterback sacks last season as a junior at Seguin. "Basically, I liked it up there. It's a nice place to be."

Richardson said Wednesday he choose Oklahoma State over Texas A&M and Florida.

A good student, Richardson plans to graduate at mid-term and enroll at Oklahoma State for the spring semester and participate in spring practice in 2007. Richardson has a 3.0 GPA and indicated that he wants to double major in business management and kinesiology.

The linebacker has 4.56 speed in the 40-yard dash and is strong – a bench press maximum of 390 pounds and a squat max of 570. His vertical jump is 29.5 inches.

"I'm a player who likes to roll the dice and play physical football," said Richardson.
