Ahmad Jones Becomes 10th Cowboy Commit

Offensive lineman and defensive tackle Ahmad Jones of Silsbee, Texas, confirmed that he has indeed given the Cowboys and his recruiting coach OSU assistant Gunter Brewer a verbal commitment. The 6-3, 310-pounder becomes Oklahoma State's 10th verbal commitment in a class that is expected to top out at 18 signees next February when verbal commitments can sign and become official.

"I committed to OSU several days ago," said Jones, who is a second team All-Super Team selection on the offensive line in Texas Football magazine. "I really like Coach Brewer. He is funny and a neat guy. I like the coaching staff. They are young and have the prgoram going the way I want to see it for the school I go to. They showed me a lot of love."

The question is where will Jones end up playing? He has been successful on both sides for Class 3A Silsbee.

"I'll play either side," said Jones. "I weigh 310 pounds right now, but I will play at 295 to 300 pounds. As an offensive lineman I consider myself a better run blocker with power and speed. I'm real explosive on the offensive side. On defense I use my speed and have the quickness to get around the blocker. I like to use the rip and speed rush techniques."

Jones makes his verbal commitment to the Cowboys without having seen the campus, but says that will be corrected this week when he leaves Thursday to see his brother in Dallas and then drives up to Stillwater for an unofficial visit on Friday.

He did make it to the OSU satellite camp in Houston earlier this summer. Jones said he picked Oklahoma State over LSU. He said he also had offers from Nebraska, Florida, TCU, UTEP and Tulane. Jones also said he plans on majoring in communications at OSU.
