OSU Alum To Lead Media Relations Office

Kevin Klintworth, most recently associate athletic director for communications at the University of California in the Pac-10, has been hired to oversee the Oklahoma State University athletic media relations office. Klintworth has been hired as associate athletic director of media relations at OSU.

"I'm looking forward to completing the move and getting started," said Klintworth. "The University of California is a wonderful place and we have enjoyed tremendous success here, but this is clearly a special time in OSU's history and I am honored to be a part of it."

Klintworth, a 1984 OSU graduate, has spent the past 15-plus years working in media relations offices across the country, including California, San Diego State, Northern Arizona and Kansas State. He was named associate athletic director of communications at California a year ago to oversee the operations of the school's 27 Division I programs. He worked primarily with head coach Jeff Tedford's football team which finished 8-4 last season, including a win in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Prior to jumping to the Pac-10 Conference school, Klintworth spent six years at San Diego State of the Mountain West Conference. He oversaw the day-to-day media operations for an 18-sport Division I program, including men's basketball coach Steve Fisher (who coached Michigan to an NCAA title).

In addition, Klintworth spent three seasons as the assistant athletic director for media relations at Northern Arizona, where he worked closely with men's basketball coach Ben Howland, who this past season led UCLA to the Final Four. He also served as assistant sports information director at Kansas State for five years.

OSU Athletic Director Mike Holder said, "Kevin brings a strong track record to the position. He provides the best of both worlds. He is an Oklahoma State graduate with an appreciation of our history and traditions. He has also been successful at several different levels and can bring a bit of an outside perspective to our operation."

Klintworth's former student workers in the media relations offices he oversaw have advanced to positions at Akron, Kansas State, Kansas, Cal State Northridge, Stephen F. Austin, Indiana, Northern Arizona, San Diego State, Florida International, South Carolina, The Mountain West Conference, Host Communications and various public relations firms.

Klintworth replaces Steve Buzzard, who had spent 23 years in the OSU sports information office before accepting a job with the OSU Foundation this summer.
