Recruiting: Millwood's Jones On Way Home

We caught up with Gerald Jones as he was in Phoenix making his way back from the Main Event basketball tournament in Las Vegas. The standout athlete who starts at quarterback for Oklahoma City powerhouse Millwood High School is also a talented basketball player.

"We did pretty good out in Vegas," Jones said of his himself and his team in the Vegas exposure event. "We were beaten by the number 16 team in the country, the New York Metro Hawks. It was a lot of fun. We stayed at a new place, the Venetian Suites. No, I didn't sneak into any casinos, but there are a lot of girls out there."

Jones said with all the basketball that he has been playing that there hasn't been a lot of time for recruiting. Jones has written scholarship offers from the likes of Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Floirda, Michigan, Kansas State, Arkansas, and many more.

He also has two-a-days starting at Millwood on Aug. 8. For anyone wanting to see Jones showcase his talents on the gridiron in the preseason, the Millwood Falcons will scrimmage at Ardmore Plainview and will also participate in the annual All-City Preview in Oklahoma City.

"This is my break," said the multi-talented athlete that accounted for 2,854 total yards and 28 touchdowns last season. "I'm taking a break from now until Aug. 8."

Back to recruiting, Jones said he still has work to do to come up with a concrete list of his top schools.

"I need to do more checking and right now I really don't have a favorites list," explained Jones. "I do know that Oklahoma State and Texas Tech are two schools I like a lot and they will make my list of favorites."
