Cowboy Preseason Camp Notes: Day 4

The Cowboys escaped the first three days without any injuries, but two popped up at the same position on Saturday and Sunday. The first injury was late in practice on Saturday to wide receiver Jeremy Broadway, who had been off to a great start in camp.

"Broadway dislocated his wrist," said Gundy. "They put it back and it didn't need a pin. Probably a month would be my guess on how long he's out. He finished practice and said it was sore and they put it back in place last night."

During Sunday's practice, again late, wide receiver Anthony Parks was carted off with a quad injury, the extent and seriousness was unknown.

CURTAIN CLOSES NEXT FRIDAY OR SATURDAY
Mike Gundy told the media after Sunday's practice that this will be the last week of open practice during preseason camp. The open door policy will end either Friday or Saturday following a 6 p.m. scrimmage. Gundy said he would meet with new Media Relations Director Kevin Klintworth and his own coaching staff before making a final decision on the scrimmage. Either way next Monday practices will be closed for the remainder of the season. Gundy also said he was unhappy that some video of Saturday's practice ended up on another internet website.

NEW AD FOR MEDIA RELATIONS ARRIVES
New Associate Athletic Director for Media Relations Kevin Klintworth drove in from California and promptly attended his first Cowboy football practice. Klintworth greeted and spoke with Gundy, several other staff members, members of his media relations staff, and members of the beat media. A native of Mannford and a 1984 graduate of Oklahoma State, Klintworth has served on media relations staffs at Kansas State and has directed offices at Northern Arizona, San Diego State, and California-Berkeley. His first official day on the job is Monday.

SPECIAL TEAMS SPECIAL
The first 30 minutes of practice on Sunday was spent on special teams. Kickers Jason Ricks and Bruce Redden were both perfect as Ricks hit field goals of 30 and 40 yards, while Redden was good on a PAT and two 35 yard field goals.

During the punt portion of the practice walk-on redshirt freshman Cole Reynolds, back from his sister's wedding on Saturday, boomed his first three punts before an average kick on his last rep, Starter Matt Fodge had a couple of good kicks, but also had a couple of line drive efforts. When Fodge came back and kicked with the third punt team he had one blocked on a good effort from the left side of the defense.
