Cowboy Preseason Camp Notes: Day 6

Head coach Mike Gundy announced that Saturday's first planned scrimmage of preseason camp would be open to the public and media. The scrimmage will be held at 6 p.m. on the grass practice fields east of Gallagher-Iba Arena. That will be the final open practice of the preseason camp. All other practices and scrimmages will be closed to the public.

Same list as wide receivers Jeremy Broadway and Anthony Parks are out for a slightly extended period. Broadway, with a dsislocated wrist, is out for a month, while Parks is out 10 to 12 days with a quad muscle injury. Running back Mike Hamilton is still sitting out with a slight hamstring pull and fullback Josh Johnson has had problems with cramps. Defensive tackle Jonathan Lewis is still out for conditioning reasons.

Tight ends coach Doug Meacham is growing a mustache and goatee during preseason camp. The popular Meacham said that on Monday night his former head coach Pat Jones, who was visiting Cowboys camp, told him he needed to shave it off. Meacham explained that when he was coaching at Jacksonville State in Florida that he grew the same look in preseason camp and the team improved from 1-10 to 8-3, the biggest jump in college football that season. Somebody keep all the razors from Meacham!
