Recruiting: Moore Says Mind On Tatum Football

Wide receiver Darnius Moore of Tatum, Texas, was very short with his answers this afternoon on the phone. Practice for Tatum begins at 4 p.m. and Moore said he is dedicated to helping the Eagles win the Class 2A title after winning the Class 3A Division II state championship a year ago.

"Yes sir," was the response that the 6-0, 185-pound wide receiver had to most questions.

Moore did give his top three schools.

"Oklahoma State, Tennessee, and Florida," Moore said in that order when asked which schools were at the top of his recruiting list.

Moore did accompany his highly touted teammate and good friend, running back Lennon Creer, on an unofficial trip to Tennessee. He acknowledged that Creer had backed off a plan to announce his college commitment on Wednesday.

"It was all right," Moore said of the trip to Knoxville. "It's the same thing with the other schools -- getting to meet the coaches and players, and they were cool. I plan on making a decision some time near the end of football season."

Moore is a top flight prospect not only as a receiver (500 yards and 10 touchdowns as junior) but also as a punt and kick returner. He has great speed and moves. He returned a kickoff for a touchdown in the 38-34 state championship win last season over Hutto.
