Flowers Suspended From Basketball Team

Oklahoma State freshman Gary Flowers has been suspended from the Cowboy basketball team, it was announced Wednesday in a news release from the media relations office. The 6-8, 205-pound forward, who signed with OSU after attending Genesis One Christian School in Mendenhall, Miss., has been suspended for violation of team policy.

Flowers, who averaged 17.3 points and 8.7 rebounds during the 2004-05 season as a teammate of Cowboy point guard Byron Eaton at Lincoln High School in Dallas, was ranked as the seventh best post-graduate player in the nation by when he signed with the Cowboys.

Flowers was reportedly arrested early Wednesday morning in Stillwater on a marijuana possession charge. He also was reportedly ticketed in the summer for speeding and did not have a valid driver's license or proof of insurance.

The suspension is indefinite until an investigation is completed into the incident by the Cowboy basketball staff.
